Lite Fast 2090 is a UV secondary fiber optic encapsulant used for coating cable and optical fibers.  The secondary encapsulant cures within seconds after application of UV light.  Rapid cure time allows for faster and more reliable automated production.  This UV secondary encapsulant is a hard coating exhibiting low shrinkage, no outgassing and very low static and kinetic coefficients of friction.

  

Lite Fast 2090 is utilized in the manufacture of cable and optical fibers. Application of the UV fiber optic encapsulant is performed by dispensing into a cavity and used as a tough, hard secondary coating. 

For optical fiber or cable application, the UV fiber optic encapsulant is dispensed into a cavity of the cable thereby coating the fiber when it is drawn through the orifice.  Lite Fast 2090 is cured with UV light within a few seconds.  The lamp has a peak wavelength intensity at 365nm.

 

With its high Tg, greater than 42C, and low coefficients of friction, Lite Fast 2090 optical fiber encapsulant protects the primary coating from the outside environment and its low coefficient of friction protects the fiber cable from micro-fractures that occur in the manufacturing process.
